Send OTP codes and SMS campaigns via Twilio

OTP verification, voucher delivery, and mass SMS campaigns. Fallback to SMSPortal supported.

Powerlynx
Twillio

How it works

Twilio is one of two natively supported SMS gateways in Powerlynx, the other being SMSPortal. To connect, create a Twilio account and obtain three values from the Twilio Console: Account SID, Auth Token, and a Twilio phone number (From number). In Powerlynx under Config → SMS, add a new gateway and select Twilio as the type.

The Powerlynx fields map to Twilio values as follows: Account SID → both the “Account SID” and “API key” fields; Auth Token → “API secret”; Twilio phone number → “From”. For more secure authentication, Twilio also supports creating a dedicated API key of type Standard — this can be used in the API key field instead of the Account SID.

Once connected, Powerlynx routes all outbound SMS through Twilio — OTP codes, mass campaigns, voucher delivery, and 1:1 messages. All messages are logged under Logs / SMS Logs.

Fallback configuration

Multiple SMS gateways can be active simultaneously. The top gateway in the list is primary — any other enabled gateway is fallback. If Twilio fails to send, Powerlynx automatically routes through the fallback gateway. Order is changed by drag and drop.

What this integration provides

  • OTP SMS delivery for phone number verification at the captive portal.
  • Mass SMS campaigns — service announcements, promotions, bulk notifications.
  • Voucher code delivery via SMS for offline redemption.
  • 1:1 SMS from customer profiles in Powerlynx.
  • Primary or fallback gateway.
  • Full delivery status and audit trail under Logs / SMS Logs.
  • Balance monitoring with email and dashboard alerts.

Credentials required

Account SID, Auth Token, and From number from the Twilio Console at console.twilio.com. Alternatively: Account SID as API key + Auth Token as API secret + dedicated Standard API key for more secure auth.

Requirements

  • Twilio account.
  • Account SID, Auth Token, and an active Twilio phone number with SMS capability.
  • OTP verification for the splash page is optional — enabled or disabled per splash page.
