Connect Ruckus APs to Powerlynx via RADIUS

How it works

Ruckus access points connect to Powerlynx using RADIUS for authentication and accounting. The only available connection type for Ruckus devices in Powerlynx is Public IP — no WireGuard VPN is used.

Configuration starts in the Ruckus admin panel under Admin & Services / Services / AAA Servers. You create two RADIUS server entries: one for authentication (port 1812, type RADIUS) and one for accounting (port 1813, type RADIUS Accounting) — both pointing to radius.powerlynx.app with a shared secret that matches the Powerlynx hotspot settings.

Next, under Admin & Services / Services / Hotspot Services, you create a hotspot and link it to the two RADIUS servers. The Login Page URL is set to your Powerlynx redirect-flow URL. Walled Garden hosts are added under the Walled Garden tab — required hosts depend on your payment gateway. Finally, a Wi-Fi network (WLAN) is created with Usage Type set to Hotspot Service, linked to the created hotspot.

In Powerlynx, the WLAN name from the Ruckus device is added to the SSIDs field under both the location and the splash page.

• Ruckus AP running latest firmware.

• Access to Ruckus admin panel (SmartZone or Unleashed). Public IP connectivity from the AP to Powerlynx RADIUS server at radius.powerlynx.app.
