When configuring your commercial Wi-Fi hotspot system with voucher features nowadays, one of the important things that comes to the forefront is captive portal, a.k.a. splash page or login screen.
This page is basically the first thing your customers see before they can log into your Wi-Fi network. So, needless to say, how it is super important to customize its appearance (with your own brand, logo, and background) and make it familiar to users, which can be especially handy for Guest Wi-Fi (learn more about Guest Wi-Fi here). Plus, it also acts as your showcase and marketing platform. So, if you’re ready to start making better use of your Wi-Fi network, here are five tips on how to get the most out of no-code Powerlynx Splash Page Editor.
Update (June 2025 and July 2025): We’ve added new tips on customizing Status Page and Data Plan Selection Page to drive guest engagement, upsell services and improve the overall guest experience.
Splash page panel functionality overview
But first, here is a brief overview of the Powerlynx Splash Page editor’s functional possibilities. To configure and customize the appearance of your Splash pages (after logging into your account), first go to Config/Splash pages. From here, our easy-to-use page editor enables Wi-Fi network administrators to craft a login page for the desired location — whether it is a school, university, community, MDU, coffee shop, restaurant chain, shopping mall, retail shop, fuel station, hotel, hospital, RV park, campground, food market, and other public places.
General settings (splash page’s name, enforce terms of use, enable OTP verification, etc.) are visible at once and all collected on the General tab. Theme tab, in turn, includes everything necessary to make your Wi-Fi splash page personalized and consistent with your brand in a few clicks.
Enhance user engagement with the Custom Status Page
And now, with the new User journey tab, you can go one step further by setting up the Status Page — the final screen users see before closing the Captive Portal. Add your own message, button, image, video or redirect link to guide users to your website, app download page or feedback forms, promote an offer or simply say thanks. It’s a great way to create a smooth handoff after login and turn the last step of the user journey into something useful. Learn more about how to configure the Status Page in our guide.
Style the Data Plan Selection Page
You can tweak the style of the data plan selection page, tailoring the background, text colors, and layout for any Splash page to match your brand’s look and feel. Depending on your requirements, you can choose classic and minimalist card layouts (picture below).
While the classic layout shows full plan details, the minimalist layout helps users view more plans at once without scrolling. This flexibility allows, for example, a hotel to clearly present each plan’s full details like speed caps and usage limits, helping guests make informed premium choices. Meanwhile, a coworking space might use the minimalist view to showcase multiple short-term access plans at once, enabling walk-in visitors to connect with minimal friction.
At this moment, Powerlynx’s easy-to-use editor allows tailoring Splash pages with the following options:
- Put your own brand, logo and background image.
- Change buttons, text and border colors to match your logo and background design.
- Adapt the layout and styling of each element in real time with a preview on the same page.
- Add advertising, i.e., videos and banners.
- Customise Status Page your users see after connecting — ideal for thank-you messages, redirects, promotions or app downloads.
- Personalize Data Plan Selection Page — style layout, choose between minimalist vs. detailed view, and align visuals with your splash flow.

The Splash page editor is incredibly easy to use, allowing you to quickly create attractive, responsive pages that display correctly on any screen and device. Now, let’s move on to some practical tips and examples to help you succeed with a personalized approach, create more appealing splash pages and deliver additional value for Wi-Fi users.
1. Provide easy and fast Wi-Fi access for a better user experience
Nobody likes jumping through hoops to get online. Powerlynx lets you create a smooth connection process that keeps your guests happy and helps you achieve your business goals simultaneously. Set up one-click access for simple and instant Wi-Fi onboarding or obtain additional contact details like email, name, and more for marketing purposes. You can even customize the connection flow based on different user groups with control of multiple locations from a single dashboard, ensuring everyone gets the right level of access for their needs.
When setting up Wi-Fi access, also consider your regular customers. Your repeat visitors shouldn’t have to sign in each time they come back. Pick a Wi-Fi system that can spot returning users and connect them automatically. This small feature makes a big difference — it shows you value their time and want to give them a smooth experience.
2. Make distinctive designs of splash page while maintaining simplicity
To create an effective splash page, you need a Wi-Fi marketing system that offers white labeling — this means the provider’s logo and branding won’t show up on your page. Look for software that lets you create and change your pages without limits. This gives you full control to build a page that matches your brand perfectly and shows only your business.
At the same time, your splash page should reflect your brand without overwhelming visitors. Remember the golden design rule: Less is more. You can use the Powerlynx captive portal editor to maintain a visual hierarchy. Place your logo prominently at the top — adjust its size and position. Choose complementary colors from your brand palette and leave plenty of space.
Remember to maintain high contrast ratios for text and ensure all interactive elements are large enough for easy tapping on mobile devices — after all, most of your users will be connecting from their smartphones. But don’t forget about other devices. The preview function in Powerlynx’s splash editor allows you to fully evaluate the final result and adapt the layout in real-time.
3. Optimize key element placement for maximum impact
Use visuals that work for you and matter most to customers. Instead of just decorative photos, select visuals that reinforce your brand message or evoke specific emotions — like your restaurant’s signature dish, your hotel’s stunning views, or iconic local landmarks that connect with visitors.
Keep your text crisp and legible by pairing light text with dark backgrounds or vice versa — but avoid the common mistake of placing text over colored rectangles, which can make your design feel cluttered. Your primary action button should stand out through strategic color choice, while secondary elements can use more subtle tones. The editor’s one-click color system lets you adjust background, text, and button colors with the precision of professional CSS. This ensures every element on your page not only looks polished but also guides users naturally through the connection process.
Remember: every visual element should serve a purpose, whether it’s directing attention, conveying information, or creating an emotional connection with your brand.
4. Rely on vouchers for hassle-free Guest Wi-Fi management
For hotspot management, Wi-Fi Voucher Login provides stronger security and protection than using a shared password, making it easy for both staff and guests to manage access. In Powerlynx, a voucher functions like an access card generated by the system to grant users network access (via a special voucher code) under predefined settings on any desired splash page. When guests connect to Wi-Fi, they’re automatically redirected to a branded splash page and can easily connect in a few steps. From the splash page, guests can choose a suitable plan or grab a voucher (free or paid) with assigned data plans, speed or data caps, time validity, and multi-device use, ensuring uninterrupted service for all users.
Powerlynx’s voucher-based authentication system also included a special public status page. With this feature, users can see detailed data about voucher usage once they log in to the network via their phone number. And you can also redirect customers to the status page without sending them an SMS right after they log in from the splash screen.

5. Launch targeted marketing and loyalty campaigns right on Splash page
Hotspot advertising module turns your Wi-Fi network into an advertising platform. Whether promoting your own services or partnering with other businesses, make sure ads complement rather than compete with the main login interface.
The advertising module is a vital component of the Powerlynx platform. It lets you display targeted promotions (videos, banners, or images) right on the splash page during sign-up while keeping the user experience clean and uncluttered. Promotions, coupons for retail stores, discounts, specials, invitations to guests, sharing additional information, and more are possible. You can tailor promotions based on location, charge advertisers per view (CPV), and collect email addresses or phone numbers during sign-in to sell advertising space in email newsletters or SMS campaigns, effectively reaching a broad user base.
